BellaBox: Unsubscribed and Review
I was going to do an unboxing and review of the June 2014 Bellabox beauty subscription box but unfortunately, the box didn’t wow me at all. If anything, I actually felt really ripped off.
The bellabox beauty subscription box is $15.00 per month and you are meant to receive deluxe samples of new and interesting products to try. The first box I received was the May 2014 box which I received during my over-excitement of this new concept of subscription boxes. When I received the bellabox, I felt, “Oh”. Not really impressed. The product that I really wanted to try was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel. Every beauty guru I’ve watched RAVES ON about Anastasia, so I thought, that the bellabox would be a good option. When I received the box, I was not impressed with the tiny sample size of the brow gel. I actually received the May box free, so I can’t complain right.
Anyway, skip a month forward and this time, I did have to pay for the bellabox. I filmed the whole unboxing of the box and everything but I don’t think I sounded too impressed. There were a lot of things in it but $15 for samples… I dunno.. compare that to the Red Paw Paw box (or is it referred to as redpawpaw) which I pay $5 for FULL SAMPLES. You just cannot compare the two.
What I received in BellaBox June 2014:
- herbal essense shampoo and conditioner (deluxe sample)
- Olay Regenerist cream (deluxe sample)
- Cedel blowdry faster heat protector (deluxe sample)
- Innoxa neutral lip pencil
- la rouche-posay effaclar duo luxe (sample)
- nutrimetics nutri-rich instant radiance BB cream (sachet)
- InStyle Magazine (this months)
Not shown: Cedel Blowdry Faster Heat Protector 165ml (as seen in the main photo), Innoxa lip pencil full sample (also in main photo) and BB cream was small 2ml sachet.
Why did I feel not impressed?
These are all products that you can purchase from Priceline. Given any special promotional day or when you have a voucher or something, you can purchase any of these products easily. What is so special about these products? The box may have been called “Priceline Beauty Subscription Box” because that is exactly what it was.
Look, I’m not knocking Priceline. I love them. I’m a Priceline sister!
I think the bellabox is good for people who want to try things before they buy the product. For people who wanted to open the product at Priceline and try them out or smell the product or feel its texture… There are testers that you can do that with.
Personally, I’m looking for a different kind of beauty box. Maybe something that sends me cool lipsticks, make up items, some full size, some deluxe sample size. I’m even looking for food subscription boxes as well because I eat and I think food that makes you happy is better than any product that you will never use.
That’s why I unsubscribed to bellabox. I just can’t justify spending $15 to buy a whole bunch of samples that you can get free and I honestly don’t even use most of the free sachets I get when I buy korean cosmetics. Yes, this box with the magazine was at the value of $15, but when you look at it, you feel pretty ripped off. The InStyle magazine is not informative and so confusing. I don’t understand what the magazine is about – high-end expensive but not as luxurious as Harpers Bazaar or Vogue and not as people friendly as Marie Claire. I didn’t read any of the articles. The featured clothing is not as stylish of fashion-driven as the other magazines and there are not that many articles in the magazine. Fucken waste of $9.95. Thank God I’ve never bought one before.
Anyway, on the look out for another subscription box to subscribed to!
Perhaps I’ll give the one-off make up boxes a try.
